The MESA program team at the Chancellor’s Office is hosting a meeting on SB 444 which requires the California Community College (CCC) Board of Governors to adopt regulations for the establishment and implementation of MESA programs. The session, facilitated by Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs John Stanskas, is aimed at informing MESA program directors about the legislative intent of SB 444 and soliciting feedback on the draft regulations (attached) that have been developed. We will also provide an overview of the Board’s regulatory process and timeline for adoption of the proposed regulations.
In addition, we will discuss the critical role that MESA programs play in operationalizing our shared commitment, outlined in Vision 2030, to eliminating gaps in access, support and success in transfer and baccalaureate attainment in STEM for socially, economically, and educationally disadvantaged students. Similarly, to promote the maximum implementation of Equitable Placement, Support and Completion (AB 1705) reforms, and in the interest of collaborative integrated planning, college key stakeholders such as CEO, CIO or VPI, CSSO, Academic Senate Presidents, Research Directors, counselors, STEM faculty, and Institutional Effectiveness Directors are highly encouraged to attend the webinar session. Finally, our team will share the most recent data on the transfer rates of MESA program students.
The meeting will be recorded and made available for those who were not able to attend the event live. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Stephanie Ricks-Albert at mesa@cccco.edu using the email correspondence format below.
